Job Title: Parking Lot Attendant

 

Credentials: Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

 

Education: High school diploma or GED

 

Training or experience required: None required for this position

 

Reports to: Building Administrator

 

Contract: 175 days

 

Salary Schedule: Teachers Assistant

 

FLSA Classification:  Non-exempt

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Expeditiously keep buses and other vehicle traffic moving during periods of peak traffic flow.
  • Monitor the parking lots each day to see that the appropriate vehicle is parked in the correct space.
  • Enforce all parking rules and regulations as prescribed in the Student Handbook, together with state and municipal laws pertaining to driving.
  • Secure the parking areas as needed.
  • Issue parking violation warnings when parking rules and regulations have been violated as directed by site administration.
  • Supervise the parking areas and check parking permits of students & staff.
  • Assist students, teachers, administrators, and school patrons with minor emergency mechanical problems, e.g., charge car batteries or lock-out.
  • Monitor the security of all portable buildings and other outer buildings located on the school premises.
  • Enforcement of district open/closed campus and tobacco use policies.
  • Report to site administration all vandalism to vehicles and buildings located on school premises.
  • Monitor the premises for strangers or strange activity as appropriate.
  • Respond to security and/or emergency calls during normal school hours as needed.
  • Establish to strive and maintain a good working relationship with students and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Successful performance of the job requires good customer service/people skills and to handle problems and provide information and technical assistance as requested. It requires complying with safety guidelines and policies to reduce accident or injury to staff or to students. It requires following school dress standards, proper attendance or leave policies, and other work-habits concerns for staff. Creativity, initiative and effective problem solving are critical to the success of the position.Help manage the computerization of school district operations. Provide training and support to district staff in the use of administrative computer systems. Perform such tasks to the ultimate benefit of the educational program. An incumbent in this position will utilize discretion, ingenuity and independent judgment due to the complexity of the job. Since there may be several ways to solve a problem, an incumbent is free to choose the solution.
