Job Title: Painter
Credentials: Valid Oklahoma driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Education: High school diploma or GED; special vocational training in painting.
Training or experience required: 2-4 years of directly related experience or training in painting. Must be experienced in the application of paint with rollers, brushes, and spray equipment.

Essential Job Functions:
- Perform general painting including both inside and outside school buildings; paint furniture and fixtures, playground equipment; paint lines on tennis courts, stripe parking lots, metal poles, signs, etc.
- Strip and refinish woodwork, stains, and varnishing, matching paint colors and textures.
- Replace or repair drywall; tape, bed, textures; patching holes in plaster or sheetrock.
- Install and repair ceramic and vinyl tiles.
- Install and repair vinyl base.
- Paint signs, work with stencils.
- Inform supervisor of parts, equipment, and supplies needed to successfully complete a job.
- Maintain a clean work area at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Employees must possess the basic communication skills to exchange information, give and receive simple instructions and respond to inquiries. Employees in this position may be required to perform routine computations requiring a knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, decimals and/or percentages. The employee must use tools or equipment in a manner requiring competence and must meet certain performance standards which normally would be gained by on the job exposure or training. In a workday, the employee must stand/walk 6-8 hours per day. Employee's job requires frequent bending/stooping, squatting/crouching, crawling/kneeling, pushing/pulling, climbing and reaching. Employee's job requires frequent carrying/lifting of up to 35 pounds loading material and supplies. There is the occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds. The job requires the employee to use both feet for repetitive movements; both hands for such repetitive actions requiring a simple to firm grasping and/or fine manipulation. The employee must possess manual dexterity to operate hand and power tools safely. Must possess the color vision to mix and match colors and to see flaws from any angle. The employee must possess hearing/speaking ability to provide instructions and communicate. The employee must be able to hear sufficiently to know if there is an equipment malfunction. Employee's job requires working on unprotected heights (high ladders and scaffolding); Use of/close to machinery; working in the outdoors with temperature changes; driving motorized equipment; exposure to solvents, dust, paint fumes, toxic chemicals. Must be able to wear a respirator. |
